confidently pass the BOC ATC exam and begin your athletic training career.
The Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC) offers the Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC®) credential, a nationally recognized certification for athletic trainers. Earning the ATC® demonstrates that a candidate possesses the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide comprehensive athletic training services, from injury prevention to rehabilitation.
To be eligible, candidates must graduate from a CAATE-accredited athletic training program and receive endorsement from their program director. The exam consists of 175 questions, including standalone multiple-choice questions and multi-select, drag-and-drop, and hot spot items. Candidates have 4 hours to complete the test, which assesses domains such as injury and illness prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, therapeutic intervention, and healthcare administration. Upon passing, the ATC® credential remains valid as long as certified individuals meet continuing education requirements and ethical standards to maintain certification and professional competence.
