Mobile test prep company Pocket Prep today announces the launch of the spring edition of its Racial Equity Scholarship. The company launched the scholarship program in 2020 in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Pocket Prep’s scholarship program provides financial coverage and support for members of minoritized communities who are pursuing professional certification. These members have traditionally been underrepresented in the field in which they’re seeking certification when compared to America’s majority population.
“We committed in 2020 to building programs within our company that give greater support to people in their educational journeys,” said Peter Murphy, CEO and Co-Founder of Pocket Prep. “Since then, we have made the scholarship program bi-annual, launched a Financial Support Program, and set up a local community donation program.”
“This is the third run of our scholarship program and we have greatly enjoyed getting to know the ten scholarship recipients previously chosen. We look forward to continuing this program and growing our community involvement in parallel with our mission to make education more accessible to all,” Murphy said.
Pocket Prep’s Racial Equity Scholarship occurs biannually in the spring and fall. The program is suited for studying professionals who are preparing for one of the 110+ certifications that Pocket Prep offers study prep for industries spanning behavioral health, business, fitness, IT, nursing and more.
Applications for the Spring 2022 scholarship are due by June 15, 2022. Applicants for this round should be sitting for their chosen exam between July 15, 2022, and January 15, 2023.
Five recipients will be chosen to receive the following:
- Study Support of $1,500
- Fully Paid Exam Registration Fee
- Paid Exam Study Materials (i.e. required textbooks, guides, software)
- Free Access to Pocket Prep’s Premium Study Material
