Focused prep to advance your career in ambulatory care nursing with the AMB-BC™ certification.
The ANCC AMB-BC™ exam is for nurses who wish to become certified in ambulatory care nursing. Offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), this certification validates your expertise in providing care in outpatient settings, including clinics, telehealth, and home care.
The Assess and Evaluate subject includes topics such as understanding disease processes, medications, and preventive care, as well as performing clinical data interpretation and patient triage. The Plan and Implement subject focuses on care coordination, disease-specific interventions, and clinical tasks like procedures and wound care. The Professional Role subject emphasizes the nurse's responsibilities in advocating for patients, leading safety initiatives, and adhering to professional standards and fiscal responsibilities. The Education subject addresses teaching strategies, communicating with diverse populations, and overcoming barriers like language and health literacy to provide effective patient education.
Eligibility requires a current RN license and two years of full-time nursing experience. Additionally, candidates must have at least 2,000 hours of ambulatory care nursing experience and 30 hours of continuing education in the specialty within the last three years. The three-hour exam includes 150 questions, 125 of which are scored and 25 used for pretesting purposes. The AMB-BC™ credential is valid for five years, and recertification can be achieved through continuing education or re-examination.
