Take your perioperative nursing career to the next level and lead with confidence by passing the CNOR® exam.
The CCI CNOR® is designed for nurses working in the perioperative setting. Offered by the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI), this certification validates your knowledge and skills in providing care in surgical environments, which is crucial for roles in operating rooms and surgical centers.
Eligibility requires a current RN license and completion of an accredited nursing program. Additionally, candidates must have at least two years of perioperative nursing experience, with a minimum of 2,400 hours of experience in perioperative nursing.
The CNOR® exam covers a comprehensive range of topics, including preoperative patient assessment, intraoperative care, and postoperative recovery, ensuring that certified nurses are well-prepared to manage the complexities of the perioperative environment. This certification not only enhances a nurse's professional standing but also contributes to improved patient outcomes, making it a valuable asset for any registered nurse in the field of perioperative care.
The exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, 185 of which are scored and 15 unscored, with a time limit of 3 hours and 45 minutes. It uses scaled scoring from 200 to 800, and candidates must achieve a total scaled score of 620 to pass. In 2023, 2,768 candidates took the CNOR® exam, with a reported pass rate of 69%. Once certified, the CNOR® credential is valid for five years, and recertification can be achieved through continuing education or re-examination.
