Pass the NCLEX-RN® on your first attempt and step
confidently into your future as a licensed registered nurse.
The NCLEX-RN® (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses) is the final hurdle for aspiring registered nurses (RNs) in the United States and Canada. Administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), this exam is designed to test the competencies needed to perform safely and effectively as a newly licensed, entry-level RN.
Eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN® requires completion of a state-approved nursing education program. Candidates must also apply for licensure with their state’s nursing board and receive an Authorization to Test (ATT). The NCLEX-RN® is a computer-adaptive test, meaning that the questions are tailored to the candidate’s ability level in real-time. The exam can range from 85 to 150 questions, and candidates are given up to five hours to complete it.
Passing the NCLEX-RN® is essential for obtaining an RN license, which is required to practice as a registered nurse. Once licensed, RNs can pursue various career paths in healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, community health organizations, and more. The license must be maintained through continuing education and periodic renewal, as specified by the state board of nursing.
Pocket Prep's NCLEX-RN® prep content includes Next Generation NCLEX® (NGN) Matrix Multiple Choice and Matrix Multiple Response item types.
