Elevate your career in nursing education and make a lasting impact on future nurses by passing the CNE® exam.
The NLN® Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) exam is designed for nurses seeking to validate their expertise in nursing education. Offered by the National League for Nursing (NLN), this certification confirms your ability to teach and mentor nursing students effectively.
The Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) exam assesses key competencies across several content areas essential to the academic nurse educator role. It focuses on facilitating learning through diverse teaching strategies, using evidence-based practices, and creating a positive learning environment. The exam also evaluates the candidate's ability to support learner development, design and apply assessment methods, and participate in curriculum design and evaluation. Additionally, it covers leadership and change management, commitment to continuous quality improvement, scholarly engagement, and navigating the organizational environment to promote diversity, inclusion, and effective governance.
Eligibility requires a current RN license and a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing education or a master's degree in nursing with additional education credits. The exam includes 150 multiple-choice questions, 130 of which are scored and 20 unscored, with a time limit of 3 hours.
