Mobile test prep company Pocket Prep today announces the recipients of its inaugural scholarship, the Pocket Prep Racial Equity Scholarship Fund. The company has chosen five outstanding candidates from an incredibly strong and passionate pool of applicants.
The recipients of the 2020-2021 Pocket Prep Racial Equity Scholarship Fund and their respective career certifications are:
- Jessica David, EPPP
- Leoncia Gillespie, NCLEX RN
- Jacqueline Hyman, EPPP
- Kaylin Moss, CompTIA A+
- Ashley West, PMP
Each recipient will be awarded coverage of the costs associated with pursuing their chosen certification including free access to Pocket Prep’s premium study material, a paid exam registration fee, paid exam study materials, and a flat additional study support of $1,500.

This initiative enabled us to have necessary and serious discussions in the workplace about the impacts that inequity and systematic injustice in our education system have on POC’s career paths and opportunities. We continue to be inspired by the stories of all of the applicants, as well as our users, who are working to overcome inequitable obstacles to get the education they deserve. It’s a huge motivator for us to continue our mission of making education more easily accessible to all.”
This scholarship was born out of Pocket Prep’s support for the critical Black Lives Matter movement that has elevated important discussions around the inequities that Black and POC continue to face each and every day. Since the company’s public statement in support of Black Lives Matter, all employees have participated in anti-racism workshops. The company also donated a total of $18,632 to organizations working to address racial and systemic injustice through a flat $10,000 company donation and an employee match program.
